What is IPL Photofacial?

Our IPL (Intense Pulse Light) Photofacial treatments enable us to offer you remarkable results on a range of skin concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, age and sun spots, acne, acne scars, freckles, broken capillaries and rosacea. It's a gentle, non-invasive and non-ablative treatment. This unique technology effectively eliminates undesired skin conditions.

Photofacials are also very effective as an overall skin treatment to achieve more evenly toned, healthy and refreshed skin with a smoother, softer feel and appearance. The results of each session are noticeable to you as subtle improvements, building over time as the production of new, healthy skin cells continues and as collagen production increases.

How does an IPL treatment work?

With IPL technology, multiple wavelengths of light pulses penetrate the tissue and create heat, targeting the skins imperfection in a controlled manner. Different types of light target the pigment on top of the surface of the skin, for example treating brown spots than would target the blood vessels below the surface of the skin, for example treating broken capillaries. The body's natural process then removes the treated tissue, while collagen and elastic fiber stimulation occurs, resulting in a visible improvement in skin tone and overall appearance.

What is a Photofacial treatment like?

Depending on your specific concern, you can expect the treatment session to last 15-30 minutes. Both client and technician wear safety goggles for the duration of the procedure. To ensure your comfort, we apply a clear ultrasound gel on the treatment area. You may experience a warm sensation as the light is applied to the skin, but the treatment is gentle and should not feel uncomfortable. Mild redness and swelling is a common side effect and a cold compress or ice pack can be applied, if needed.

When will I see results?

The Photofacial treatments work with your skin over a sequence of treatments. While everyone's skin is different, some skin concerns such as age spots and sun spots can become darker within a few days of treatment, then flake off and gradually fade in 1-3 weeks. They can be cleared with as few as 1-3 treatments. Typically, for broken blood vessels or Rosacea treatments, 3-5 sessions may be required. Treatments are usually performed at 3-4 week intervals to achieve optimal results for most skin concerns.
